Welcome to Sandy's Wood Shoppe! I've been making wooden children's toys and clocks for about 40 years. I started out in a 3 x 10 foot storage area, and gradually moved into my own shop. Nearly all of the wood I use has either been donated, or is scrap and cut-offs from a variety of sources. It's wood nobody else wanted, so I give it a new purpose and a new home. I love making things for children. They know right away what a toy is for: it's to be played with. And my toys are designed with children in mind. I rarely use nails or screws and normally make joints using glue and dowel pins, and the sharp edges have been sanded or rounded over. Some toys are painted and some are bare wood.
The booth at the Coupeville Art and Craft Festival August 10th and 11th, 2019, was a roaring success. This was the second year I was there, and we averaged about $1000 gross sales each year. Thanks to all those who visited us, and we congratulate all on their wise purchases!
NEW PRODUCT: Roly-Poly Cars
Please see the photo below for our newest product - a two car race track. The track itself is about 18 inches long, and made from the sides of a drawer from a discarded dresser. Each track has two cars made of scrap wood from other projects. Release the cars at the top of the track, and they will fall off the end, flipping over, and continue on their way!
Great fun for children and adults alike.
